Either/Or - An Integrated Art Event, three city sites, Glasgow, 1990

Produced by the art group Image & Installation (Stephen Hurrel, Matthew Dalziel, Oladele Bamgboye). Commissioned by the 1990 Festival's Office as a major project for Glasgow's Year of Culture 1990.

1. Art Gallery & Museum, Kelvingrove: An installation of twenty Video-8 Walkman's into glass display cases in the West Wing. The interiors of the cabinets in each of the three corridors were painted Red, Yellow and Blue. Each monitor contained a moving-image study of an object from the Museum collection. i.e. Gods/Dieties and texts/transcripts from various cultures/beliefs, along with Bowls from different cultures, which slowly revolve in the screen. Fourteen sets of headphones relayed a specially composed soundtrack by Michael R. Forsyth.

2. St. Enoch Shopping Centre: Installation of twenty-four sets of headphones in. The soundtrack transformed the shoppers' experience of the immediate space. Four different soundtracks were located at four different areas of the shopping centre, and people were able to freely move around the headphone installation.

3. Twenty full-size advertising billboards located around the city: The bowl image was used throughout all the billboards. The image was 'constructed' of hundreds of peoples' signatures - each person signed their name in the bowl image that was to be installed closest to where they live.
